Worthy Worthing Community Chest’s May Update

It’s Naomi’s first blog for us! She went along to her first Appraisal Panel and helped us to award the most money EVER at a panel! The future is looking bright…

As the newest kid on the WCC block I’ll admit I was absolutely delighted that it wasn’t me making any of the decisions at our most recent Appraisal Panel; the standard of applications was seriously high, the projects were seriously worthy, and I was seriously anxious having spoken to almost every one of the wonderful people writing and submitting their forms to us and loving them all!

As the [very] new Grants Administrator, I have discovered that this is one of the most rewarding parts of my role – helping you get the funds for the projects closest to your hearts. Not a single project failed to capture my imagination. And even as the deadline loomed bringing challenges and obstacles with it, we managed to bring 16 polished applications to the tablewhich is, I believe, a WCC first!

It was also an opportunity for me to experience first-hand how our committed volunteers – our Appraisal Panel members and Trustees – worked together to deliver the very best and most appropriate results.

We ask all successful applicants to participate on our Panels following their award. Everyone receives full training (which I will be delivering, friendly faces please!) and support, we certainly won’t throw you in the deep end. It is a great opportunity to have your say in supporting the wonderful work in Worthing that we at the WCC get to see all year round, and of course to see what goes behind the scenes!

If you are thinking of applying, whether you have aspecific project in mind or are just at the research stage, read up on our criteria here, there’s some very important information that will have a direct impact on how your apply. If you have any questions please give me a call.

Our next panel is in August with the application deadline on 31st July so please do keep them coming in, I’m here to help.
