It’s Carnival Season and we couldn’t be happier!

A warm August Bank Holiday Monday saw the team from Worthing Community Chest visit the Rotary Carnival for our giant cheque presentation on the Steyne Gardens stage.

This fabulous annual event for all the family has become an established part of Worthing’s summer calendar. This year was no exception: the whole town was rocking to the sound of music, brass bands and the background laughter from the fairground attractions.

It is always a pleasure for us to be able to support great events such as the Rotary Carnival, both for the money it raises and the enjoyment it brings for the people of Worthing. This year we were able to assist with the entertainment costs, thus ensuring all families could participate at little or no extra expense.

Following a speech from the Mayor congratulating the winners of the best floats, WCC trustees Malcolm and Martin presented our notorious Giant Cheque to the hard working Rotary team…..with just a little help from the glorious voice of Bob Smytherman, Town Crier!)

Not only do we feel lucky to be involved with the events that we support, it also gives us an opportunity to talk about what we do here at the Community Chest. Our textile recycling activity allows us to continue the important work of funding local community groups who do so much for the benefit of so many. Our textile bins are spread across Worthing, and you can find your nearest one on our very useful map here.

Many congratulations to Worthing Rotary for organising another great event. We look forward to working with you again in the future. Isn’t it a big anniversary next year?! We can’t wait to hear all about it!
