Worthing Community Chest awarded a grant of £945 to Worthing Town Football Club to fund the purchase of new footballs. Trustees Fred Weller, Paul Howard and Martin Ansell went along to meet the club and present their grant. Below is Fred’s blog from the visit.

On the morning of Saturday 18th March three trustees, Paul, Martin and me together with Paul’s wife, Sarah, met with Pauline Fox at Worthing Town Football Club.    Pauline is one of the key people in the life and work of the club and was responsible for applying to Worthing Community Chest for a grant.   The club has some 47 teams, many of which are young boys and girls who play with undersized footballs.   They were seriously short of enough balls to help these youngsters train and play and Pauline had asked us to make a grant of £945 to buy a comprehensive set of footballs.

We were there to formally present the charity’s cheque to the club and did so in the company of some of the young players, boys and girls, who happily posed for photographs with the large presentation cheque outside the clubhouse.

This football club provides a wonderful opportunity for players of all ages and abilities and is completely open to anyone and everyone.  Those of us who were there could not help but be impressed by the wonderful team of adults, all but one of whom are volunteers, who give so much to the young people of Worthing.   This is an enterprise that thoroughly deserves the help that we were able to give.

If your group needs funds to help buy new equipment maybe Worthing Community Chest can help you? Our next round closes at the end of April. For more information call Inga on 01903 221080
