February 2018 Appraisal Panel

This month’s guest blogger is Trustee Ann Stimpson, she attended Feburary’s Appraisal panel

‘I have been a Trustee of Worthing Community Chest for 3+ years and part of a Trustees responsibility is to monitor the Grant Application process.  So I attended a Grant Application Appraisal Panei meeting on 28 February 2018.  There were six  Panel members and three Trustees including the Chair and we had seven applications to review and decide on.  The process is rather unusual in that the Panel is comprised of previously successful applicants who undertake to  attend Panel meetings for 12 months after their successful bid.  This ensures a wide variety of interest and knowledge when deciding on a new batch of Applications. There are obviously priorities and criteria for all applicants to follow , thus ensuring a level playing field for all applications.

The meeting on the 28th Feb was interesting with a wide range of  comments, queries and interest. It was apparent that in spite of a variety of Panel members a consensus was reached with four successful applicants, one rejected and two deferred for more information.  We are always amazed at the variety and dedication of the volunteers running the Community activities , some fairly familiar but a large number quite innovative and the Panel members are always very anxious to ensure that the Grant funds available are distributed fairly and responsibly.’

West Worthing Short Mat Bowls Club £561 for new uniforms and jacks

Worthing RFC Minis Tour £1,500 towards the cost of rugby shirts
